Computacenter has expanded its Integration Center capacity in Kerpen, Germany by a further 20,000m² to support the continued growth of its business.

This takes the total capacity in Kerpen to 49,000m² and in Germany as a whole to over 55,000m². The facility will also receive investment in greater automation and technical services configuration space to further increase efficiency and capacity and make the most of the experience and skills of Computacenter’s people.

The Kerpen location was chosen to minimise shipment distances to many of Computacenter’s major customers, supporting both high service levels and minimising the carbon impact of transport. Computacenter already operates smaller hubs across Germany in Gustavsburg, Schwaig, Ingolstadt and Hanover to minimise shipping distances for regular shipments to customers in key locations across the country.

Computacenter is maximising the benefit of Kerpen’s central location, supplemented by smaller hubs across Germany, to reduce the carbon impact of transport. Computacenter has already committed to being Carbon Net Neutral globally for Scope 1 and 2 emissions in 2022, one of the first companies in the industry to set this goal. The Kerpen location already benefits from contracts with green energy suppliers and Computacenter’s new Kerpen solar farm will generate approx.1.5m kWh of electricity annually, saving approx. 700,000kg of annual carbon emissions.

“The great work of our people has allowed us to manage the significant increase in technology sourcing volume we have experienced over the past few years. We will continue to invest in our infrastructure across Germany to support the growth of our business while meeting our ambitious sustainability targets,” said Reiner Louis, Computacenter’s Managing Director in Germany.
